The bolt catch releases the bolt to battery when pressed after the bolt is locked open either manually or when the rifle cycles through all the rounds in the inserted magazine. The Extended Bolt Catch makes releasing and locking your bolt back so much easier do to it's increased surface area. I am building a new rifle and forgot to order the bolt catch. As usual Odin Works came through and had exactly what I needed, and the bolt catch is perfect. Received it in the mail within a couple days of ordering it.
